Light catchers: Discovering the physics of colors in a playful way Ernst-Leitz-Museum

  • In this creative format, participants bend, thread, and embellish. Inspired by the first signs of spring, they design their own light-catching ornaments using fine wire, iridescent glass beads, and sparkling crystals. At the heart of each artwork is a high-quality crystal that—much like a Leica lens—refracts the incoming bright spring light and disperses it into its spectral colors.

As soon as the March sun touches the ornament, the room fills with shimmering reflections. Along the way, participants playfully explore the fundamentals of optics. Whether as an Easter window decoration or a personal gift, these sparkling creations bring spring straight into your home.
