Leitz Photographica Auction: Highlight Preview & Expert Dialogue
-
Discover photographic treasures in advance! We invite you to join us on 7 June from 6 p.m. for an exclusive preview of rare cameras and lenses that will be up for auction at the 44th Leitz Photographica Auction on 8 June.
Particularly noteworthy this year is the 70th anniversary of the Leica M, a camera that revolutionised the world of photography. One of the highlights of the auction is a rare Leica MP2 black paint from 1958, of which only six exist worldwide. This camera is part of a test series of 27 pieces and is estimated to be worth 600,000 to 700,000 euros. Other exclusive lots include a Leica I Mod A Luxus, which represents the technological development of the 1930s, and a Leitz NY Rifle, which demonstrates the diversity and innovation of Leica products. A prototype of the Leica Summilux 35 f/1.4, symbolizing Leica's constant pursuit of perfection, will also be auctioned.
Two experts from the auction house will be on hand to provide detailed insights and answer your questions: Michal Kosakowski is a well-versed expert on the auctions and the main point of contact for all bidding-related questions. His extensive knowledge of the history of photography makes him a valued advisor for collectors and enthusiasts.
Alexander Sedlak, Managing Director of the auction house, is a recognised specialist in vintage cameras and historical camera accessories. His deep understanding of the significance and value of historical photographic objects and his knowledge of the stories behind the cameras are invaluable.
In a relaxed atmosphere, you can talk to the auction team as well as other photography enthusiasts and collectors. This get-together offers the perfect opportunity to exchange expert dialogue and make new connections.
In addition to cameras, the evening before the auction will also feature a selection of ten iconic photographs to be auctioned on 18 October at the Gestures photography auction in Vienna. The Gestures
auction by Leitz Photographica Auction brings together iconic photographs such as Alfred Eisenstaedt's Ice Skating Waiter, St. Moritz, Flip Schulke's shot of Muhammed Ali Boxing Underwater and Horst P. Horst's delicate portrait of a smoking Coco Chanel. In addition to classics from the history of photography by Edward Weston, Pirkle Jones and Ruth Bernhard, reportage photographs by Walker Evans and Inge Morath will also be on display.
The event is an excellent prelude to the auction and promises an evening full of interesting discussions and insights into the world of historical cameras. We cordially invite you to be part of this highlight preview including expert dialogue and look forward to welcoming you to the Leica Store Wetzlar. Please register to attend using the form below.
