Wet Plate Photography Workshop (DE)
26.07.25 - 27.07.25 09:00 - 18:00-
Analog. Authentic. One of a Kind.
This July, Leica Welt invites photography enthusiasts to take part in a truly special analog workshop: On Friday, July 26 or Saturday, July 27, 2025, participants can immerse themselves in the fascinating world of collodion wet plate photography – a photographic process that dates back more than 170 years and turns every image into a hand-crafted original.
Led by Luis Seybold, a photographer specialized in this historical technique, the workshop introduces participants to the complete process of creating positive images on aluminum plates – a more accessible alternative to glass plates and the ideal starting point for anyone new to the medium. From understanding the chemistry and working with large format cameras to the full development process in the darkroom, the day offers a step-by-step dive into both theory and hands-on practice. At the end of the session, each participant will take home their very own 4x5 inch analog photograph – a tangible image with truly unique character.
To ensure an intensive and personal learning environment, each workshop is limited to a maximum of 6 participants per date. No prior photography experience is required, but safe handling of chemicals is essential. Detailed information on protective clothing and safety measures will be shared ahead of the event. The workshop fee is €649 and includes coffee, water, and snacks. Each session starts at 9 a.m.
Please note: the workshop will be held in German.
An analog experience with real depth – for anyone looking to rediscover photography at a slower pace, in its most tactile and expressive form. To register, please email info@leica-welt.com and indicate your preferred date.
Important: A minimum of 5 participants per workshop is required. Once your registration is confirmed – at the latest two weeks before the scheduled workshop – the participation fee of €649 must be paid within 8 days via credit card or bank transfer. Our general terms and conditions apply.
