At the Leica Gallery Wetzlar, starting from November 4th, you can be inspired by a unique combination of tradition and innovation. In cooperation with hessenTischler, the regional guild association for carpentry in Hessen/Rhineland-Palatinate, we present the design competition 'The Good Form' until November 15th.

With this prestigious competition, hessenTischler annually seeks the best journeyman pieces from the carpentry guilds of Hessen. The accompanying exhibition at the Leica Gallery Wetzlar showcases the best-designed journeyman pieces from the class of 2023. Each carpentry guild in Hessen has the opportunity to nominate their top journeymen for the regional competition.

'The Good Form' highlights the importance of design in carpentry and joinery. The competition aims to motivate young talents to engage with design early on. Apprentices are encouraged to think about contemporary design for their journeyman pieces, which they then bring to life with the support of their mentors in the workshops.

After the exhibition ends on November 15th, a four-person jury will select the three most outstanding exhibits in a non-public event at the Leica Gallery Wetzlar. The winners will then advance to the next round. The highlight of the competition is the national final, where the journeyman pieces of the regional winners are showcased to the public.
