Free Admission at the Ernst Leitz Museum for International Museum Day 2024

14.05.24

The Ernst Leitz Museum celebrates this year’s International Museum Day on May 19, 2024, with a special offer: free admission for all visitors. This day marks the 47th edition of International Museum Day, which highlights the importance of museums worldwide and invites people to explore the cultural diversity and rich heritage preserved within museums.

International Museum Day, annually proclaimed by the International Council of Museums (ICOM) for May 18, traditionally takes place on a nearby Sunday in Germany. This year, the President of the Bundesrat, Manuela Schwesig, has taken on the patronage for the action day, which is under the motto #DiscoverMuseums.

The Ernst Leitz Museum is using this occasion to draw attention to the diverse analog and digital offerings that are already available on the nationwide platform. The German Museum Association coordinates Museum Day nationwide in close cooperation with regional museum associations and offices, as well as the museums on site.

We warmly invite all interested parties to discover the fascinating world of photography and optics at the Ernst Leitz Museum and to gain insight into the history and future of imaging. Take the opportunity to learn more about the exciting exhibits and the history behind the renowned Leica brand.
